European Colleges and Residency Programs

For many years, in both Europe and North America, specialization programs have been established to certify a high professional level for those who obtain this qualification. At the European level, these specializations are overseen by the European Board of Veterinary Specialisation (EBVS®).

To obtain the title of European Specialist, one must complete a structured training pathway called a Residency Program and subsequently pass one or more highly selective examinations.

The number of European Specialists in Italy is still relatively limited; however, at DIMEVET there are 24 European Specialists across 14 different specialties, and the department is a recognized training center for the education of new specialists.
